Who is your refuge?

How do you control the uncontrollable? (Hint: You don't)

Most women I know crave safety and security in some form or another. I am one of them and am discovering that I need to be very careful how I attempt to fill this need. My "go to" is to try to control as much as I can around me. The more I can control, the safer I feel. That is until something doesn’t go according to plan. This is when I realize how little control I have over myself and the world around me. That’s when the bottom falls out due to my false sense of security. It can get pretty ugly.
Last night I was in a hotel room where the people next door were up the entire night, therefore I was up all night. It was so infuriating to not be able to sleep and not be able to do anything about it. This is only one example, but these types of things happen every day. You get bad news from the doctor, the local HOA has a special assessment, financial issues at your current employer, lay-offs, increasing interest rates, inflation, etc…What do you do when your false sense of security balloon bursts with all the things coming at you that you can’t control?
The realization that I can't really control a darn thing is humbling and helps me recognize my dependence on the Lord. It ends up being very freeing as I learn to rest in the refuge the Lord provides. Then it doesn’t really even matter what happens because I know the Lord will work all things out for his good.
How about you? Who do you really county on?
What feel like to truly take refuge in the Lord?
Scripture
“Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” Psalm 2:12
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
“He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge.” Psalm 91:4
