There is just something about fall that draws me closer to God.

I walk several times a week and the fall colors have been AMAZING here in Colorado. It seems like the colors are lasting longer and are more vibrant this year. Sometimes we get a rain or snow that drops the leaves fast and furiously in one sitting, but not this year. I find myself looking up more these days as I marvel at the colors and awe of God’s creation. The bright yellows, burnt oranges, and red leaves that provide extra dimension and pop to the neighborhood.

I am grateful for the seasons and changes of life, but especially fall. I find it a bit ironic that the trees are in the process of squeezing out the last bit of nutrients of these beautiful leaves before releasing them to their own devices. The trees are drawing inward, closer to their roots and life source as they prepare to hunker down for the winter. Each day more and more bright leaves are floating around the sky. I hear them crunching and crackling as they begin to blow around on the ground. It won’t be long now…

Like the trees drop leaves, I have a burning need to let go of all the things that no longer give me life as well. I draw inward as I look up, wanting to draw closer to God…closer to my true source of life. Perhaps that is my draw to fall.

How about you? How do you feel about fall?

Are you able to be grateful for the beauty in where you are right now in your life?

Can you think of anything you may need to begin to let go of in order to draw closer to Jesus?
