Have you ever been entertained by an angel?

ree

My son had a late evening flight recently that also involved the need to pick up a rental car at the airport. I had a feeling that there would be a problem. We called the rental company ahead and were assured it would be fine. They would be open until 1am, they said. They had the flight information and knew he was coming, they said. Well…they were wrong and I was furious. It’s nothing like an empty airport at midnight, dark rental car counters, empty parking garage, nowhere to go and no one to ask for help.

Not to throw shade at rental car companies, but I am pretty sure we all of have a rental car story of some kind. Thankfully, this particular story has a happy ending and I am convinced it was an angel.

You see, as my son was going back and forth between the airport and rental car garage attempting to figure out how to get a car in an empty airport when a woman suddenly appeared out of nowhere inside the airport garage and asked if he was okay. My son explained the situation and she said that she had a truck that he could take and proceeded to pull it up for him. He hadn’t seen her before, didn’t know her name, or even if she worked for that rental company. He gladly took the truck and miraculously made it through the rental security booth without any more issues.

I had two immediate thoughts, followed by a third. First off, I think that was an angel and second, how cool that God gave him a pickup truck of all vehicles. And then I thought, even if that was a regular employee, they were still sent by God to help at that particular time and place. They were prompted to reach out to a stranger (my son) who needed help. God can make anything happen in any way he choses.

In a world that so often trains us to mind our own business, I am reminded that there are plenty of people who hope that we don’t. After all, we all need help sometimes, don’t we?

I am thankful for a God that is protective of his children and that we can trust him to be there in our times of need. He can make anything happen and by any method he choses.

Do you have a story of an angel that helped you out of a seemingly impossible situation?

How does it make you feel when someone reaches out to you to give you assistance?

How in tune are you to the needs of others around you and the prompting of the Spirit?

Scripture

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” Psalm 91:11

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” Hebrews 13:2
